About USA Tariffs

LATEST PAGE UPDATE: 19 August 2025

Starting from 29 August 2025, the US will be ending the $800 de minimis exemption for ALL shipments into the country, regardless of the country of origin.

This means that all parcels and shipments entering into the US from 29 August onwards will now be subjected to import duties or/and flat-rate charges even if your parcel value is below the threshold of $800.

- UPDATE ON 19 AUG 2025 -
We have just received news that shipments to the USA will be suspended by Singapore Post until further notice. So it is with a heavy heart we have to announce that we will also have to pause orders/shipments to the US from 23 August 2025, 11:59pm (GMT+8).

We're so sorry for the inconvenience caused. >_<

Hanasakushop ships out packages via Singapore Post, which means packages to the US will be handled by USPS when they reach the United States (international postal network).

With that, the following tariffs could possibly be imposed on your purchases with hanasakushop by the US Customs before the package can be delivered to you.

How are Tariffs Charged (for the first 6 months):

  • Countries with Tariff Rate of less than 16%
    → $80 per package
  • Countries with Tariff Rate between 16% to 25%
    → $160 per package
  • Countries with Tariff Rate above 25%
    → $200 per package

We are based in Singapore with an imposed tariff rate of 10%, meaning that packages from hanasakushop would possibly be charged $80 for the first 6 months of implementation (the first category).

We are also not sure if there will be additional handling/administrative fees charged by USPS for these tariffs, which means the charges may not be limited to just $80 per package.

Please note that Hanasakushop will not be collecting any of these tariff-related fees at checkout. These fees will be requested (if they do implement it) by the US Customs or USPS when the package reaches the United States.

There is a clause on the White House statement however, mentioning that postal shipments may still be eligible for duty-free de minimis treatment until they have adequate systems in place for the collection of such fees (Section 6bii). So we are not sure if these tariffs will ever be charged. But we are warning our US customers about this first, JUST IN CASE. Everything seems to be super vague at the moment ><

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if any new information is made available or announced.

⚠️ Disclaimer:

By placing an order with Hanasakushop, you agree to pay for any import duties or taxes/tariffs required by your local customs authority. In any case if you fail to pay such fees leading to a confiscation, return, or destruction of your package from Hanasakushop, we will not be providing you with a refund on your purchase.
